Where I Work

Today at the courthouse we asked if there was a place where we could hunker down, spread out and get some work done.  The ladies behind the counter were hesitant to suggest it, but they told us about a small room, probably full of dust and mold, that houses the especially old volumes of deeds.  They made it sound like a foul-smelling, dank sort of place, but for a book lover like myself, it wasn't half bad.  True, it's a small room, but it has a big table, an outlet for charging laptops (remember to bring an extension cord) and it has that wonderful old book smell.  The volumes themselves are pretty cool looking.  They're huge and leather-bound, and they cover all four walls of the room, floor to ceiling.  It turned out to be a great place to work, which is a good thing since we'll be spending a lot of time there in the next couple of weeks.

Of course, the courthouse closes, and we're usually not done working yet when it does.  So our next favorite place to work is the lobby of our hotel.  It also has an outlet for laptops (no extension cord required), a nice fountain and birds to provide background noise, tables that can be pushed together for lots of space and $2 specialty beers at the bar.  My kind of working conditions.
